About Our Soaps

Granny Annie's soaps contain no artificial preservatives, stabilizers, colors or fillers, no harsh chemicals whatsoever in the finished bar. Soaps are cured for a minimum of four weeks. Following is a list of the ingredients used in our soaps.

Soap Base Ingredients:

Other natural ingredients are added to some bars. These are listed in descriptions of individual bars.

Olive oil is an effective moisturizer with the ability to attract moisture from the air and hold it close to your skin. Coconut oil creates a generous, cleansing lather that washes clean without residue. Palm oil and bees wax add firmness to soaps. Only a very small amount of bees wax is used.

During this cold-process soapmaking natural glycerin is formed. Glycerin also attracts moisture from the air, moisturizing and soothing the skin. These cold-process soaps are about 25% glycerin.

Each bar weighs approximately 4 ounces.

Superfatted Soaps

Some Granny Annie soaps are superfatted. (See description for individual bars) This means that extra oils have been added which remain unsaponified; that is, these oils have not reacted with the sodium hydroxide to form the soap compound but remain in their original form in the bar as emollient ingredients.
